Dietary Supplement VS Complementary Food Supplement Products

Nowadays, Thai people are familiar with the word "Dietary Supplement" which is the habited word "Complementary Food Supplement" and how is it different?

NOTIFICATION OF THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC HEALTH, B.E. 2522 (1979); Food means any edible things for life supporting as follows;

1. All types of substances that people eat, drink, draw, or bring to the body in any way, but do not include medicines, psychotropic substances, or narcotics according to the law on that matter, as the case may be.

2. The desired substances or ingredients or food additives for using and mixing in the food production process, both colors and flavors, which are intended to be produced for sale, must be registered with the FDA, Thailand. Under such circumstances, it can be produced and distributed.

Complementary foods should provide sufficient energy, protein, micronutrients, and others to cover energy and nutrients, in addition to daily meals suitable for infants, patients, and those who need essential minerals and nutrients.

A dietary supplement is a product intended for ingestion that, among other requirements, contains "dietary ingredients" intended to supplement the diet and usually contains one or more dietary ingredients including vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, and enzymes. That is suitable for the expected person who wants to be healthy.
The dietary ingredients;
1. Vitamins, Amino acids, Fatty acids, Mineral, and products are produced from plants and animals.

2. Concentrated substrates, Metabolite substrates, components, or Extract substrates of (1).

3. Synthesis substrates as follows (1) or (2).

4. One or many substrates mixing as follows (1) or (2) or (3).

5. Any substances or other substances are determined by the FDA, Thailand, and that have been approved by the committee.
