PRASAPLAI FORMULA (ประสะไพล)

Definition:
Prasaplai Formula is a traditional Thai polyherbal medicinal preparation consisting of twelve (12) herbal ingredients, formulated in accordance with classical Thai traditional medicine. It is indicated for the management of symptoms related to obstetric and gynecological conditions.

Composition:
Each formulation contains the following ingredients:
 1. Zingiber cassumunar Roxb. (Plai)
 2. Allium sativum L. (Garlic)
 3. Piper retrofractum Vahl. (Long pepper)
 4. Nigella sativa L. (Black cumin)
 5. Citrus hystrix DC. (Kaffir lime)
 6. Allium cepa L. (Shallot)
 7. Zingiber officinale Roscoe (Ginger rhizome)
 8. Rock salt (Sodium chloride)
 9. Acorus calamus L. (Sweet flag)
 10. Piper nigrum L. (Black pepper)
 11. Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.)

 12. Roscoe (Zedoary) Camphor

Description:
A brown to dark brown powder or granulated preparation with a characteristic aromatic odor and a slightly pungent taste.

Indications (Traditional Use):
 1. Relief of dysmenorrhea
 2. Management of irregular or scanty menstruation
 3. Promotion of lochia discharge in postpartum women
 4. Relief of flatulence and abdominal discomfort

Dosage:
To be taken orally in accordance with traditional practice or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional.

Contraindications:
 1. Patients with fever
 2. Pregnant women
 3. Women who have undergone a cesarean section
Postpartum women with abnormal or excessive bleeding
 4. Women with menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding)

Warnings:
 1. For irregular or scanty menstruation: continuous use should not exceed 1 month
 2. For postpartum lochia discharge: continuous use should not exceed 15 days

Precautions:
Caution is advised with prolonged use, particularly in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, due to the potential accumulation and toxicity of camphor.

Storage:
Store in a well-closed container, protected from moisture and light.

Labeling:
The label shall comply with applicable regulatory requirements and include indications, directions for use, contraindications, warnings, and precautions.

This formulation is in accordance with the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 3), B.E. 2566 (2023), entitled: “Names, Categories, Types or Characteristics of Herbal Products for which manufacturing or importation for sale requires registration, notification of details, or listing, and the names, quantities, and conditions of substances permitted as ingredients in herbal products for notification.”
